FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS

INVITATION


We are delighted to invite you to the Third International Conference on “Sustainable Tourism Development” at Södertörn University, Stockholm/Huddinge, Sweden, November 25th - 27th 2009, 15 km South of Stockholm.

The theme of the conference will be “Sustainable Tourism Development.” The conference will be held with the perspective Baltic Sea and East European regions. Our intention is to host a scientific conference to promote an interdisciplinary discussion and exchange of ideas in the field of tourism research. We wish to broaden the understanding of sustainable tourism and its business, organisational, social, humanistic and environmental concepts.

We want to explore ways and methods concerning social, economic, culture and heritage in a sustainable perspective for coming generations of tourists.

From above aspects we need to find more efficient coordination of all concerned organisations necessary in order to deliver successful tourism development. In accordance with the Lisbon Strategy, there is also need for faster knowledge transfer to tourism industry.

Our goal is to promote the good practise developed in well established education and research centres in Europe and USA and to discuss sustainable tourism development in Europe, the possibilities for development and opportunities for closer cooperation.

Theoretical and applied issues and themes to be explored at this conference include:

• Building Sustainable Partnership between Tourism, Culture and Heritage in Destinations

• Tourism in Peripheral Areas
• Visitor Attractions Development
• Sustainable Destination Management
• Strategic Alliances at Tourism Destinations
• Marketing and ICT in Tourism
• Interaction Design for Nature Experiences
• Importance of Security for Tourism in Global Market

Or other to the main theme related papers

We look forward to receiving your abstracts. Submitted abstracts should be relevant with the overall conference theme objectives and at least one of the conference sub-themes, should be
written in English, and should be submitted in time (see bellow for “key dates”). All contributions must be original (i.e. not been published elsewhere), follow academic writing,
structure and methodology. Submissions will be blind-refereed by at least two anonymous reviewers who will decide if the proposed abstracts will be accepted or not. Acceptance of an abstract does not automatically lead to acceptance of the relevant final paper; following the acceptance of the abstract, the author(s) will be provided with specific guidelines for the submission of a full paper, and then all submitted full papers will be refereed again by at least two anonymous reviewers who will decide if the final paper will be accepted or not.

All accepted papers would be included in the official congress proceedings. The proceedings will be published professionally in printed and/or electronic form and will be available for distribution after the congress. Each registered congress delegate will receive one free copy of the congress proceedings.

Notification of outcome 15th June 2009
Submission of full papers 20th September 2009
Notification of outcome 20th October 2009
